I've had problems with UDMA ICRC errors, particularly when
attaching UDMA66 drives to this ATA33 controller. Reducing
the cables to the minimum length has (I hope) totally fixed
the problem.

It's a long story so I'll cut to the chase. One cable turned
out to be 20.5" (52cm) and the other was 18" (46cm). The spec
is < 18" IIRC. However the drive on the in-spec cable would
still fail under heavy load. I moved the drives closer to the
connectors and had cables made to fit. Bingo! No more errors.

This has also cured an affectation of systat where the drives
would show 100% usage at anything but minimal load.

I guess I deserve the Homer Simpson Golden Doughnut award for
not spotting this sooner. :(

Hope this is of help to someone.
