This list isn't meant to be "cliff notes". It's not to be any sort of technical support at all. There are several great lists for technical questions, and this isn't one of them. The reason is simple, but needs a bit of pondering to understand why. FreeBSD has an unparalled reputation of stability. This reputation would be destroyed if people new to FreeBSD got bad advice. So why would you get bad advice from this forum? Because we're all newbies! We don't know what we're talking about. Getting technical support from a newbie site is like (pardon the cliche) the blind leading the blind. It's silly. Just because random bits of bad advice from inexperienced users is the normal mode of support for Linux means that it we should do the same. We have lists that are monitored by experienced users. This is not one of them. The reason technical questions are not allowed here because they imply technical answers. Newbies aren't qualified to give complete and accurate answers to technical questions. David
