I compiled a kernel with the old lpt driver, and when I do a dmesg I get: *** BEGIN *** lpt0 at 0x378-0x37f irq 7 on isa lpt0: Interrupt-driven port lp0: TCP/IP capable interface lpt-266036156: this driver is deprecated; use ppbus instead. *** END *** and... *** BEGIN *** ppc0 at 0x378 irq 7 on isa ppc0 not attached due to I/O address conflict with lpt0 at 0x378 *** END *** Nothings going to the printer port at all now, so it looks like they aren't allowing the lpt driver to work in favor of the new driver. I think I will go back to 2.2.8-R until I hear that the new driver works. It's definitely a bummer. I was expecting the basic stuff to work in 3.1.
