Porting the driver involves time testing it as well, and apparently no one _with_ the hardware either a) has the skill or b) has the desire to port the driver. The way stuff gets done in FreeBSD (since it is a _volunteer_ project) is that people add drivers/fix bugs/etc. for things that they need to get their real jobs done or for things that they personally need. If you wanted to sit down and port the driver that would be great.
