I ran through that port install (which was like watching a make world) and also ran the SETUP script for apsfilter. The good news is, during the SETUP it was able to do the test printing with little trouble. I connected through the NT and out to the printer perfectly. Once all that finished up I ran the "lpc restart all" per the instructions. Heck, I even rebooted just in case. The problem I'm having is that I still can't get any regular apps to print. If I go and run the apsfilter binary I get the following error. rm: No such file or directory apsfilter: can't determine the lpd spool directory apsfilter: Please fix your lpd or stop printing to remote printers apsfilter: directly. This is what is presently in my printcap file, which is what I assumed apsfilter was supposed to alter for me. lp|local line printer:\ :sh:\ :lp=/dev/lpt0:sd=/var/spool/output/lpd:lf=/var/log/lpd-errs: :af=/var/spool/output/acctlpd I added the :af line manually due to one how-to I was reading that said it should have an accounting file. I haven't a clue what this means, but in the interest of getting it working I guessed that it had something to do with logging information. I also created that "acctlpd" file with wide open permissions. Lastly, once I actually do get all this stuff tweaked in, do I just tell my apps to print to lpr? Do I need to create a device that points to the Samba share? The docs seemed awfully vague on this point, and I'm just very confused as to what all I did wrong.
