Sue, the split file (MS-DOS or Windows) is put back together using an MS-DOS batch file. So, the splitter can split a DOS file.... it uses the "copy/b" reconstruct method you quote. Perhpas I misunderstand your need...?? The split(1) works great under FBSD, but I thought you wanted something for your MS-DOS users.... I've used an earlier version of the above on 60MB files that can be made any size you want and then put back together with the batch sile.... Cheers....
