It was there but you didn't recognize it. The problem with 4.0 is that
it has a 1024 cylinder boot rule. Your / partition has to come before
cylinder 1024. That works out to be ~8.4GB with LBA turned on. You
can't install FreeBSD 4.0 in the 2nd partition and make it work.
FreeBSD 4.1 doesn't have a 1024 cylinder problem and would work.
