Matthew, I got the same thing with a nearly identical setup. What I did to get around it was go to another virtual console, manually mount the cdrom, then, say to use an already mounted file system. Incidentally, I had problems mounting the first cdrom under 2.2.5 and I have had a number of drive timeouts: May 3 18:01:58 billthecat /kernel: scd0: timeout waiting for drive to spin up. May 3 18:02:01 billthecat /kernel: scd0: timeout. drive busy. May 3 18:03:02 billthecat /kernel: scd0: timeout waiting for drive to spin up. May 3 18:03:05 billthecat /kernel: scd0: timeout. drive busy. May 3 18:03:13 billthecat /kernel: scd0: timeout waiting for drive to spin up. I haven't built a kernel yet. The drive works, but it definitely is working not quite as nicely as with 2.2.5 (previously 2.2.2, 2.2.1, 2.1.6, 2.1.5, and 2.1). --alan > Greetings, > > I have a 2X Sony CDU-33A CD-ROM in a 486/DX2-66 and I am trying to > install 2.2.6-RELEASE.
