Hi Matthew,
   Even with the modifications you suggested to /etc/make.conf, I am
still unable to upgrade bash here (see below), and now this is starting
to concern me greatly.

Moreso the fact that I *have* mailed not only this list, but the listed
contact at cwru.edu as well as the person listed as the maintainer in
the ports dir at FreeBSD.org about this, with no responses thus far.

Whilst I am happy that you've kindly offered to provide me with a copy
of the upgrade offlist, I *am* quite put off by the lack of progress /=20
responses about this.

I'll restore /etc/make.conf back to its original state, and wait for a
bit to see what comes of this issue as far as the maintainer and the
contact at cwru.edu.
