This is, I think, the relevant stuff from dmesg: csa0: mem 0xf4000000-0xf40fffff,0xf4100000-0xf4100fff irq 11 at device 5.0 on pci0 csa: card is Thinkpad 600X/A20/T20 pcm0: on csa0 here's what sndstat knows about it: [/usr/home/paul]:: cat /dev/sndstat FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm) Installed devices: [/usr/home/paul]:: esd /dev/dsp: Device not configured Since I run KDE, this may add some detail: [/usr/home/paul]:: artsd Error while initializing the sound driver: device /dev/dsp can't be opened (Device not configured) I have run MAKEDEV snd0, no love there. This used to work, and other than some experiments (all backed out now) with kernel config options (like option csa), nothing has changed.
