I have a ThinkPad A20m with the CS461x PCM Audio chip: it's detected at boot, I have pcm in my kernel config; in short, I have followed up every lead I have found thru google and still come up empty. This is, I think, the relevant stuff from dmesg: csa0: <CS4280/CS4614/CS4622/CS4624/CS4630> mem 0xf4000000-0xf40fffff,0xf4100000-0xf4100fff irq 11 at device 5.0 on pci0 csa: card is Thinkpad 600X/A20/T20 pcm0: <CS461x PCM Audio> on csa0 here's what sndstat knows about it: [/usr/home/paul]:: cat /dev/sndstat FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm) Installed devices: [/usr/home/paul]:: esd /dev/dsp: Device not configured Since I run KDE, this may add some detail: [/usr/home/paul]:: artsd Error while initializing the sound driver: device /dev/dsp can't be opened (Device not configured) I have run MAKEDEV snd0, no love there. This used to work, and other than some experiments (all backed out now) with kernel config options (like option csa), nothing has changed. But I think they're capable of more than that. -- Paul Beard / 8040 27th Ave NE / Seattle WA 98115 / paulbeard [at] mac [ dot] com / 206 529 8400 http://paulbeard.no-ip.org/movabletype San Francisco, n.: Marcel Proust editing an issue of Penthouse.
