Could you run pkg autoremove to get rid of old drives/dependencies of xorg-server? Then: Make sure that hw.psm.synaptics_support is set to 1 in loader.conf Remove the synaptics driver (temporarily): pkg delete xf86-input-synaptics Move synaptics.conf out of the way (like you did before).
