I installed MPlayer from ports: MPlayer Makefile: Makefile,v 1.184 2009/03/01 Mplayer version: MPlayer 1.0rc2-4.2.1 MPlayer is however able to play CSS encrypted DVDs on my FreeBSD system if I - play the DVD with MPlayer on Linux - copy ~/.dvdcss from Linux to FreeBSD I assume that MPlayer's internal libdvdcss does not work on FreeBSD.
