 I have now confirmed that dvdrip 0.98.1 runs correctly as long as I have
 LD_PRELOAD defined as /usr/lib/libpthread.so.
 
 I suspect that your window or session manager is already linked to a
 threading library and that this is why it works for you. I'm unsure how
 best to handle this for Perl scripts which happen to call routines wish
 use threading. Maybe I should ask about this on some FreeBSD list (I
 guess I'll start on questions, although the folks most likely to have an
 answer don't spend much time there.
