You didn't state if this is 5.2.1 or 5-CURRENT.  If 5.2.1, a bug was
fixed in /etc/rc.d/syscons that I think would behave as you are seeing.

Your 'allscreens_flags' flag won't work.  This is because AMD64 doesn't
support VESA modes.
