I downloaded and installed StarOffice 4.0 (non sp3) and it installed and
worked without a hitch.  Apparently sp3 requires a more current lib than
non sp3, among other things.

One can get the non sp3 StarOffice from
ftp://ftp.webster.edu/pub/unix/staroffice/
