            Bug ID: 247036
           Summary: net-mgmt/collectd5:network plugin: getnameinfo failed:
                    Non-recoverable failure in name resolution
           Product: Ports & Packages
           Version: Latest
          Hardware: Any
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Only Me
          Priority: ---
         Component: Individual Port(s)
          Assignee: ports-bugs@FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: fabian@wenks.ch
                CC: ports@bsdserwis.com
                CC: ports@bsdserwis.com
             Flags: maintainer-feedback?(ports@bsdserwis.com)

When collectd is also setup to listen for stats from other servers and clie=
nts
send their data, then the following lines is logged and data are not collec=
ted
any more:
network plugin: getnameinfo failed: Non-recoverable failure in name resolut=
ion

Same configuration works just fine with collectd5-5.10.0_1, but fails with
collectd5-5.11.0 / collectd5-5.11.0_1.

I traced it down to this change in 5.11.0:
Network plugin: New metadata "network:ip_address" has been added. Thanks to
Takuro Ashie. #3191 [1]

The error message does suggest that resolving does not work, but all the
systems which send data to my servers have proper PTR entries in DNS and do
resolve from IP to hostname and hostname to IP.

I did revert that change in src/network.c and collectd 5.11.0 is working ag=
ain
with collecting data from other servers.

See also bug report #3477 [2] upstream.
