Thanks for doing this, Mattias. I haven't had a chance all week. This matches what I got when I did this last weekend. Do you understand this i2c aspect of the track pad? Is that something that is part of the mouse driver alone or do we need i2c support then port the driver over? Den 15 juli 2016 11:25 skrev "Matthias Apitz" <guru@unixarea.de>: Last night I have installed an Ubuntu 16.04 into an USB stick, as one would normally install it into a hard disk. I've booted 16.04 from DVD and directed the install process to an USB key of 15.9 GByte which was visible for the installer as sdb. The installation went fine on the 3rd try. After rebooting the installed system from the USB key, I fetched and installed http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.7-rc6-yakkety/linux-image-= 4.7.0-040700rc6-generic_4.7.0-040700rc6.201607040332_amd64.deb by just running sudo dpkg -i linux*.deb. After a reboot it says now: Linux tiny-ubuntu 4.7.0-040700rc6-generic #201607040332 SMP Mon Jul 4 07:34:26 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux With this new kernel 4.7 of July the Elan touchpad in the netbook Acer C720 is now visible as I: Bus=3D0018 Vendor=3D04f3 Product=3D005a Version=3D0000 N: Name=3D"Elan Touchpad" P: Phys=3D S: Sysfs=3D/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:15.1/i2c-7/7-0015/input/input15 U: Uniq=3D H: Handlers=3Dmouse1 event15 B: PROP=3D5 B: EV=3Db B: KEY=3De520 10000 0 0 0 0 B: ABS=3D663800013000003 We have no support in FreeBSD for this i2c device. Comments in the driver in Linux 4.7 say that is was written based on the cyapa driver which we have in CURRENT. I'm wondering about the elantech support which was recently added to the psm(4) driver, see: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D205690 but perhaps both are completely different devices with the same name. matthias -- Matthias Apitz, =E2=9C=89 guru@unixarea.de, =E2=8C=82 http://www.unixarea.d= e/ =E2=98=8E +49-176-38902045 "Wer =C3=BCbersieht, dass wir uns den anderen weggenommen haben und sie uns wiederhaben wollen, kann von den K=C3=A4mpfen der letzten Tage keinen verstehen.
