I like the concept.  However, I think that it would need to work with
NetBSD and OpenBSD using the bsd.ports.mk files.  I can think of two
alternatives.  1) The mergers of those systems do this step manually.
2) FreeBSD checks in a version date that matches today each time
bsd.port.mk is checked in.

I do like the concept, especially since many ports are failing on
OpenBSD because I've not kept the latest bsd.port.mk stuff merged into
it very well.
