 Maybe, our experiences are different because all my computers with
spinning media are always powered by good UPSes. And they never ever
encounter "powerdown while writing" :-) So, for me single write error is
sure indication of degrading HDD. Sometimes I was able to get free
exchange on this basis, if guarantee is not expired yet, BTW.
