I have an IBM NetVista A40i, and with both FreeBSD 4.7, and 4.8 RC I can only use the first of the two builtin USB hubs. While with 5.0 they both work. I went back from 5.0 to 4.x because of the changes in the device driver handling (I use the 4Front sound drivers), and found that the USB ports on the front of my machine stopped working with 4.7, when updating to 4.8 RC they still didn't work. The ones on the back still work fine. This is the relevant dmesg output: uhci0: <VIA 83C572 USB controller> port 0xd400-0xd41f irq 9 at device 7.2 on pci0 usb0: <VIA 83C572 USB controller> on uhci0 usb0: USB revision 1.0 uhub0: VIA UHCI root hub, class 9/0, rev 1.00/1.00, addr 1 uhub0: 2 ports with 2 removable, self powered uhci1: <VIA 83C572 USB controller> port 0xd800-0xd81f irq 9 at device 7.3 on pci0 usb1: <VIA 83C572 USB controller> on uhci1 usb1: USB revision 1.0 uhub1: VIA UHCI root hub, class 9/0, rev 1.00/1.00, addr 1 uhub1: 2 ports with 2 removable, self powered Is there anything I can do to make the second one actually work (there is no event triggered with I connect a device to either of the ports for the second hub) or is this a known issue I'll just have to wait for? Jody
