            Bug ID: 209840
Summary: xorg/xf86-video-intel not working with Intel Pentium
                    G3220
           Product: Ports & Packages
           Version: Latest
          Hardware: Any
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Only Me
          Priority: ---
         Component: Individual Port(s)
          Assignee: freebsd-ports-bugs@FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: jan.pavlicek@centrum.cz

I have just attempted to install xorg + xfce on FreeBSD 10.3 on box with
processor from subject (it's mounted on ASRock H81M-HDS motherboard). I also
confirmed this issue in PC-BSD. After installation of xorg, I can startx
without problems, but with xfce it is really slow. Therefore I tried to cre=
ate
new configuration via X -configure. This went OK, but shown an error message
about more screens than detected. I copied the created to /etc/X11/xorg.conf
and checked the contents. One device was correctly recognized as intel driv=
er.
But now when I startx, screen turns off. No error message in log whatsoever,
seems like X started normally, but the screen is turned off, I cannot switc=
h to
another tty and have to force-reboot.=20

I should also note that this happens with starting X as regular user (membe=
r of
wheel). When I try to run X as root (yes, I know I should not, but just for
testing purposes), it doesn't even start and complains about "no devices
detected".

When I change driver to vesa, x starts normally, but if I shut X down or sw=
itch
to another tty, same problem - screen turns off and computer becomes
unresponsive (I can't actually confirm the second part, but when I try to
reboot from tty by inputing commands from memory, nothing happens, although=
 it
might just be that I don't type the right commands).

This is reproducible also on PC-BSD. The machine ran Xubuntu 12.04 and
archlinux in the past with X (xfce, lxde) without any problems.

Johny
