I seem to be unable to get my cable modem working with FreeBSD 2.2.5. The unit itself works fine when I use it with Win95. I added the Wide-DHCP package in the hopes that I would be able to get FreeBSD working. The kernel is built as required with the bpfilters set to 4. I set my rc.conf up as defined, executing dhcpc produces: retransmiting DHCPDISCOVER " " client can get no DHCPOFFER Some exception occurs in finite state machine. I keep an eye on whats hapenning with dhcpm and I've noticed that the messages from my system are different from the message from other peoples machines. My src_ip is 0.0.0.0 and the dst_ip is 255.255.255.255, my ci si yi and gi values are all 0.0.0.0 and server_id is None. Default_Router is also None. I am trying to access the Cogeico/Rogers Wave service. I would really appreciate hearing from someone who can point out what is going worng, or has set up a similar system. Thanks for your time..
