It seems you're already building locally?  If that patch did go away you
would be able to include that patch as a local EXTRA_PATCH_TREE or worse
use neomutt?

I think maybe the current plan is to remove quote patch keep init. patch
(on by default) maybe change the option name and try to pull in more
feedback from mutt-users (already posted there) and UPDATING (everyone
monitors that file right?)
