I've been using v2 myself. V3 is the currently released version and V2 is now frozen. The ISC DHCP web page makes no reference to V2 other than to mention that older V2 releases have a serious security hole. It lacks many features of V3 and has some problems in dealing with abandoned leases that V3 fixes. I see no reason that anyone should run V2 other than "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". R.
