If this solves it you can, IIRC, add it to /boot/loader.conf. Thanks! This worked -- kind of. The actual stuff I had to type was: /boot/loader -h ...and that let me continue the boot/install process. Subsequent boots (after the installation was complete, and by executing shutdown -r) had no problem and I didn't have to modify any config files. Again, thanks for the help!
