Hello people,

Thanks you all for your help in finding out what was causing
my UUCP checksum errors.  As it turns out, it was a noisy
line that was causing the problems.  What threw my off was
that I had previously been running Linux UUCP on the same line
without any hassles.  Probably the line deteriorated recently,
or perhaps something else made the difference - I don't know.

In any case, problem solved.  Many thanks to you all.
FreeBSD is certainly a joy to run!
