As I mentioned, I have two 3.3-RELEASE machines with similar misbehaviour. On one I have modified newsyslog.conf, but on the other it is I have not. Just to make sure, rcsdiff confirms that it is the same as the file was straight after the installation, while diff confirms it is also the same as the newsyslog.conf that I hold in the yet to be installed fresh -STABLE sources.
