That I'm "waffling" over. :-/

If the mirror-announce@ list works well enough then syncing once a
day for mostly static data is, as you point out, wasteful.  But
once a week would be too much of a delay at Release Time.  I'm
inclined to leave this requirement as-is for now and review it
later, after mirror-announce@ has been in place for a while.
