XInput does not allow this _simultaneously_, although it does allow you to name your pointer device on the fly. (I am thinking in particular of a touchscreen and mouse combination, where one wants to have both active simultaneously, and not have to do special processing at the application level for one or the other. One of my past pet projects...). ...
