man ifconfig take a look at the syntax for create.

Hello freebsd-questions,

  I defined

  pseudo-device   gif     4       # IPv6 and IPv4 tunneling

  in my kernel.

  but there's no one, as reports ifconfig.

  is it possible that something in the kernel like
  IPSEC, IPFILTER , ef(4) disables it?
