This indicates it is because some of the dependent ports are not
built with pthread support.  It is not a pthreads problem; it is
a problem with the way those ports are built along with our weird
threads library that can't be linked with libc.  The latter was
changed in -current, but you probably won't see it merged to
-stable until after 5.0 is released (this fall?).
