In all honestly, these things are very platform/BIOS dependent, so it will likely take someone with a Dell system to be a lot of help. Bit a few things like the output of 'sysctl hw.acpi', a pointer to both a verbose boot, and the output of 'acpidump -t -d > FILE' are a minimum requirement.
