I use a Creative Vibra128 PCI sound card. I have added line "device pcm" in the kernel configuration file and rebuilt the Kernel. It seems successful. The new kernel is named as CURRENT. Then I reboot. I have the "#dmesg > dmesg.txt" file attached to this e-mail. The pcm0 is found in this file. But it seems having some error (line 29) "pcm0: unable to map register space". I also have donw making device node. #cd /dev #sh MAKEDEV snd0 But I still cannot configure sound server in the KDE condigure center. I get the waring message: -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sound server warning message: unix_connect: can't connect to server (unix:/tmp/mcop-root/-010b-3dd5d4c9) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- My machine information is: FreeBSD 4.6-RELEASE FreeBSD 4.6-RELEASE #2: Sat Nov 16 17:49:32 NZDT 2002 root@:/usr/src/sys/compile/CURRENT i386 Could you please give me some help to solve this problem? I have this problem for nearly two years. My FreeBSD has no sound. Thank you. Regards. Shen Zhijian.
