Thanks for your response. Both you and Alfred have answered my questions. All I really needed was VDIR, since I can get to the filename from the process-context call to open. I thought I'd ask about VREG anyway. My search of the archives was fragged and I didn't find anything (I did upon restarting my browser. grrrr).
