I deinstalled XFree86 3.x before setup and tried use the ports collection to install XFree86 4.3.0,1. The process began indicating that XFree86-4.3.0,1 depended on shared library : X11.6 which was "not found". It began to configure XFree86-libraries-4.3.0_5 but was unable to locate two files: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/config/host.def, and /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/config/xf86site.def. Shortly afterward I received a series of "Error code 1" messages: Stop in /usr/ports/x11/XFree86-4-libraries/work/xc. Stop in /usr/ports/x11/XFree86-4-libraries/work Stop in /usr/ports/x11/XFree86-4-libraries/ Stop in /usr/ports/x11/XFree86-4 My problems originated while I was unsuccessful at upgrading XFree86-FontServer and XFree86-client due to a missing font lXfont. I was trying to remedy that situation when I fouled up here. I'm running FreeBSD-RELEASE 4.7 and would appreciate some advice as to how I can cleanly get things back to normal. Thanks in advance and have a happy holiday. Bob
