On 2001-09-06, Ted Mittelstaedt scribbled: # Here's a thought: have you tried calling Veritas Tech Support and simply # requesting the source of their agent then compiling it yourself? Maybe one # of their techs has a FreeBSD system under their desk. I've got two BSD systems backed up using Veritas BackupExec 8.5 for Windows NT/2000 Advanced Server, but I had to use Samba on the two servers. Search through their KB articles for "Snap" (since it's essentially a Linux-based machine running a version of Samba). You will need to create an admin share called "C$" that points to a temp directory with read/write permissions, and tweak some of the Samba share settings (I don't remember what the settings were). Also make sure that you setup an account on the BSD server that matches to the account username/password that the Veritas services use on the Windows machine. Hope this helps a bit. Oh... Veritas will not support backing up a server running Samba (I e-mailed their technical support and they pointed to a KB article stating that... darn them). -- Linh Pham [lplist@closedsrc.org] // 404b - Brain not found To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
