I also remember a major problem with 1.2.0. See these threads : http://forums.pcbsd.org/viewtopic.php?t=4173&highlight=cups http://www.bsdforums.org/forums/showthread.php?t=42391 I remember that the severity of the bug was so great that the 1.2.1 update was in the ports in a week or so. I'm not in front of a BSD machine to be sure, but have you upgraded your ports lately? Cups 1.2.1 should at least be there.
