The following reply was made to PR ports/79046; it has been noted by GNATS. From: Rudolf Polzer <freebsd-dr@durchnull.de> To: Michael Nottebrock <michaelnottebrock@gmx.net> Cc: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org Subject: Re: ports/79046: x11/kdebase3: kcontrol is empty, no prefs dialogs Date: Sun, 20 Mar 2005 15:09:19 +0100 Scripsis, quam aut quem =BBMichael Nottebrock=AB appellare soleo: > FWIW, some quick googling suggests that openbox, like KDE, GNOME and a fe= w=20 > desktop environments uses XDG-compliant menus and XDG-compliant WMs/DEs t= ry=20 > to parse those. Still I don't know whether KDE's parser or openbox'=20 > configuration is at fault here. I now found it... for some obscure reason, I had a ~/.config/menus which I hadn't created manually (perhaps using the GNOME control panel?). Deleting the directory worked. I am quite sure this directory was not created by openbox since ope= nbox has its menus elsewhere (although it is possible to include the menus from = the menus/ directory). But why can that break all KDE configuration dialogs (including Konqueror)? Well, thanks now, the problem is solved... to prevent such things from happening, wouldn't it be good to have a list of ALL configuration files KDE parses and what they are good for? --=20 $ htpasswd -c htpasswd Could not open passwd file -c for reading. Use -c option to create new one. {{dup[exch{dup exec}fork =3D}loop}dup exec >> http://www.ccc-offenbach= =2Eorg <<
