I investigated a little more because I can't believe this is a memory/hw problem (the kernel does boot!). I booted a 4.6 Installation CD - same error when Initializing SCSI disks. So I put in a Debian-3.0 Install CD -> all SCSI disks get initialised and I get to a shell. dmesg on Dbian shows all the hardware and 512MB of RAM. So to me this looks more like a FreeBSD/Kernel problem than a hardware problem. Any ideas?
