Have you checked to make sure that you're not using both libc_r and 
libpthread at the same time now?  Try mapping libpthread to libc_r in all 
cases in libmap.conf, e.g.

#<start of /etc/libmap.conf>
libpthread.so libc_r.so
libpthread.so.1 libc_r.so.5
