Yes, the cheaper or older ones: buy drive models made this year from vendors whose names you recognize. Get something with 8MB of cache by preference, BurnProof (or some other buffer-underrun protection)...Plextor, Philips, and Yamaha are good names, NEC and Lite-On are okay, and watch out for non-names and things like Mitsumi. -Chuck
