In any case, i'm running fbsd 4.9 with a generic kernel (minus cpu i386, 486, and 586). Since i noticed this problem, i've rebuilt the world and the kernel, rebuilt perl, and rebuilt irssi. no luck. i'm not sure what this error means exactly, perhaps that information is key to solving my problem :) Aaron
