This means that the kernel couldn't determine where it was booted from, or where it thinks it was booted from doesn't correspond to reality after probing your disks. What is your IDE disk layout? If you have a CDROM on the primary controller try moving it to the secondary and move a hard disk on the secondary controller to the primary.
