chattr -V  -i NEWKERN
chmod u+x NEWKERN

Two problems:
1. I'm trying to compile NEWKERN. #config NEWKERN
                                                    #CD ../ =
../compile/NEWKERN
                                                    Permission Denied
2. could not change permissions for etc/fstab also.Can no longer write =
to file.

All this while in root
I'm using FreeBSD 5.1 powerpack 10 cd set. I had no such problems with =
FreeBSD 5.0 unstable.
How do I get administrator privileges back while in root?
