After transferring a fair number of files (about 30-40 MB) from my CF reader to my Windows machine (via FTP), I get the following errors on the console and in the logs: umass0: BBB reset failed, TIMEOUT umass0: BBB bulk-in clear stall failed, TIMEOUT umass0: BBB bulk-out clear stall failed, TIMEOUT Once these messages start to appear, they repeat every few seconds, no matter what I do. The CF volume becomes inaccessible, and there is no way to stop the messages. The only way to clear them is to boot, but I cannot shut down the system cleanly once these messages start to appear, so a hardware reset is required (with the risk of filesystem corruption that this implies). > Finally, please don't be too quick to dismiss > the input of angry young males. Without exception, the rants of angry young males have always been entirely useless to me, and are little more than noise occupying bandwidth uselessly. Unfortunately, angry young males are a majority on USENET and on most mailing lists. > The human race owes some of its most significant > innovations and examples of artistic genius to > many young men who probably still had pimples > and cracking voices when they produced them, not > the least of whom are Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, > Franz Joseph Haydn, and Thomas Alva Edison. All of these people were more intelligent than angry; i.e., their brains overrode their hormones. This is never the case for angry young males; they are aggressive (gratuitously so) and stupid as well (at least their intellects are not strong enough to override their hormones), and they generally contribute nothing to society in this state, except little angry young males.
