I did however find that some things worked better after fresh after a restart. That is I put the appropriate command in /etc/start_if.ndis0 (which gets run automatically) and ifconfig_ndis0="DHCP" in /etc/rc.conf. When I restarted, it seemed to me that it picked up things it had ignored previously. Of course, you'll need to autoload the firmware then as well.
