I thought I had responded.  I can fetch it fine from home (behind a NAT
firewall).

Please try this and send me the *complete* output (use script(1)):

    $ script
    $ sh
    $ for F in 1 2 3 4 ; do fetch -v ftp://ftp.cwru.edu/pub/bash/bash-2.05b-patches/bash205b-00$F ; done
    $ exit

and send me the output.
