I am also currently developing a Java3D based tool and it also runs very nicely on FreeBSD. If you want an ide, eclipse is in ports and it rocks. Jdk1.5 is still in alpha testing I believe although it seems to work ok but I wouldn't rely on it for anything important just yet. HTH Chris
