See http://www.freebsd.org/FAQ/FAQ222.html If you track -stable, I'm pretty sure you'll cvsup thru 2.2.8, but will never cvsup your way to 3.X unless you switch to tracking -current or upgrade to 3.X. And even if you switch to -current, you'd have to buildworld with something like aout-to-elf (I don't know if it's a target or a switch, check mail archives or the Makefile). I'd wait until ALL the ports have ELF support... Unix systems measure "uptime" in years, Winblows measures it in minutes.
